Compote

2 pk Dried mixed fruit (11 oz. size)
1/4 lb Dried apples
1/2 c Light raisins
1/2 c Sugar (optional)
1 Stick cinnamon


place dried fruit with cinnamon stick in a 5 qt Dutch oven or saucepan. Add 6 cups hot water to cover fruit and refrigerate covered several hours or overnight.


Next day bring to boiling; simmer covered until soft but not mushy (about 1/2 hr). Add sugar the last 5 minutes.


Remove cinnamon stick. Refrigerate covered until well chilled or over night.
