Barbecue Sauce

2 1/2 c Water
18 oz Tomato paste
12 oz Molasses
1 1/2 c Dark corn syrup
3/4 c White vinegar
3/4 c Honey
2 tb Paprika
2 tb Whiskey
2 tb Worcestershire sauce
1 tb Liquid smoke
1 tb Hot pepper sauce
1 ts Garlic powder
1 ts Chili powder
1 ts Onion powder
1 ts Ground red pepper; or to tas
2 Bay leaves


In a 4-quart dutch oven, combine all ingredients. If necessary, use a wire whisk to mix well. Bring to boiling. Reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, over medium-low heat for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove bay leaves. Store in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. Makes 8 cups.
