Delicious and Simple Chili

1 tb Olive oil
1 lg Onion, diced
1/2 Green bell pepper, chopped
3 cn Crushed tomatoes
2 cn Dark red kidney beans
3 tb Chili powder (or to taste)
1 ts Salt
1 tb Sugar (optional)

Heat the olive oil in a very large frying pan or Dutch oven over medium heat. Saute the onions and pepper until tender, about 5 to 7 minutes.

Add the remaining ingredients and bring the mixture to a boil. Lower the heat and simmer, covered, for 1 hour.
