Chili Con Carne

1 1/4 lb Ground beef chuck or round
2 md Onions, sliced
1 (28 oz) can whole tomatoes
1 (6 oz) can tomato paste
1 c Water
1 Beef bouillon cube
1 (16 oz) can red kidney beans
2 tb Diced green peppers
2 Cloves garlic, minced
2 ts Salt
2 ts Oregano
2 ts Chili powder or ground cumin
1/4 ts Crushed red peppers or to taste
1 Bay leaf


Combine first two ingredients in a Dutch oven or large saucepan. Brown meat; drain off fat. Add next twelve ingredients; stir to blend. Cover and simmer 1" hours, stirring occasionally. Remove bay leaf.
