4 1/2 lb Turnip greens
1 lb Salt pork; washed and diced
1 1/2 c Water
1 c Chopped onion
1 ts Sugar
1/2 ts Pepper
Cut off and discard tough stems and discolored leaves from greens. Wash greens thoroughly and drain. Cook salt pork in a large Dutch oven over medium heat, stirring frequently, until crisp and brown. Add greens, water, onion, sugar, and pepper; bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer 40 to 45 minutes or until greens are tender.
